Nigeria, My Beloved

I remember I went for a Party in South Africa last year and I met a guy from Zimbabwe and when I introduced myself as a Nigerian he said “do you also sell drugs and scam others on the internet”. That for me has to be the silliest question I’ve been asked pertaining my nationality, it’s so sad some people still have this disdain mindset.(you can read all about my trip to South Africa hereherehere, here and here)

I honestly don’t blame those who have that mindset because some other Nigerians paved the way for such thoughts but to those with this silly mindset. Do you refuse to fly just because some have been involved in a plane crash? Same way, you shouldn’t judge a whole country just because of one man’s sin.

Arise o compatriot

Nigeria’s call obey

To serve our father land

With love and strength and faith

The labour of our heroes past

Shall never be in vain

To serve with heart and might

One nation bound in freedom

Peace and Unity
I look forward to the times when we will actually serve this land with love, strength and faith.

I look forward to the times when we stop being selfish and have a selfless life.

I look forward to when we become devoid of corruption and theft.

I look forward to the time when the young will be allowed to rule.

I look forward to the time when Yoruba’s, Igbo’s and Hausa’s(there are many other tribes) can live in peace and unity without any ulterior motive.

I look forward to the times when Bribery will be a thing of the past. I could go on and on but most importantly I look forward  to a better Nigeria.

Happy 57th Nigeria

Q: “Do you also sell drugs and scam others on the internet?”
Reply: “Do you also spread hiv/aids around?” (or something similarly scathing 😊)
